| | | Sawfly larvae on birch
Looking through the yahoo sawfly group the nearest I can find is Croesus latipes. Does anyone have experience of this one before?

| | | Re: Sawfly larvae on birch It fits the Lorenz and Kraus description: head all black, only near the stigma, prolegs and underside of the thoracic and last 3 abdominal segments pale. They also seem to regard C. latipes as pretty distinctive. |

| | | Re: Sawfly larvae on birch Paper copies can still usually be obtained from places like Pemberley Books, but will be expensive.
An electronic version (PDF) was made as part of a symposium volume a few years ago. If you PM me I can suggest how it might be possible to get hold of a copy.
BUT it's very technical and in german and about 400 pages long. I find the top-level and genus keys most useful, plus, of course, the species descriptions : the sub-family keys are really rather involved.
I should really go and collect some Solomon's Seal sawfly larvae from the garden and run them down through the keys. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
