| | Is this an egg?! Hi, I spotted this under one of the leaves on my tree paeony this evening and was wondering if anyone could tell me what on earth it is! I couldn't see any others and it doesn't look like a gall, so I am left with a possible egg... It looks a bit painful to lay though . It was quite large, approx 4mm to the tip of the point.
Ant help appreciated as I have no idea where to start looking to ID this!
Jo

| | | Re: Is this an egg?! A spider would make sense as they 'spin' them instead of laying them as far as I know so not so painful as I imagined! I've only ever seen the round ones so that's a first for me.
Thanks, Jo

| | | Re: Is this an egg?! Morning Jo,
Yes, certainly Pidiscura pallens. I've had one of their eggs in my garden that recently hatched - I never saw the spider though, I assume the egg is a lot more distinctive than they are!
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Is this an egg?! I've just found some images of the spider in question and she is definitely not as distinctive as her egg sac! Tiny little thing...
Thanks so much to everyone who ID'd this, it would have sent me mad not knowing!
