What is this? please help?
Overnight a hard pillow shaped mass appeared on our kitchen window frame. It is a dark grey like colour with white speckles and is about the size of my thumb, also it is rock hard. The window frame needs replacing but there is no evindence of any bugs or spiders. What can it be?

I don't suppose this could have happened un-noticed during the the day could it. My only guess possibly a potter wasp. I remember being on holiday and watching one stock up the unfinished pot with paralysed caterpillars. anyway, just a thought.
