| | | Re: Caterpillar id needed please Can't help on ID, Julie, but how was Rainham? I know it publicly opened on 13th + it's supposed to have super-duper VC, etc. Used to go regularly to Rainham + see Short-eared Owls, Water Pipits, etc + visited about year ago on current Purfleet site + saw the Sociable Plover amongst the Lapwing hoardes.
I thought about going today but District line was down in part for works, so I'll leave it for another day. Beautiful day today in London. |

| | | Re: Caterpillar id needed please Hi,
I'm going to say it's a Feathered Brindle moth - Aporophyla australis.
They are found as a larva on the south coast area from Oct till May.

Alan | Looked at a few books and I would also agree that Large Yellow Underwing is most likely. |

| | | Re: Caterpillar id needed please Thank you very much everyone. Large Yellow Underwing it is then. Mine was just a bit anaemic I think!
You'll be pleased to know I moved it to a place of safety. In the middle of a footpath was not the best place for it.
I hope it has a lovely mothhood.
