Ground beetle larvae or something else?

I came across dozens of small black larvae feeding on a decomposing Salmon skull today.



They were sensitive to me getting close with the camera and many had scuttled away by the time that picture was taken.

This is a cropped image showing two short tail filaments, six legs and two antennae.

Are these ground beetle larvae or something else?

Not to sure here, but i don't think its ground beetle, i would go for some sort of Silphidae.

Spot on I'd say. Have Googled Silphidae larvae and it's a good match.
