| | | caterpillar identification please Sorry, no picture, but does anyone know what type of moth or butterfly will develop from a bright yellow, hairy caterpillar which has four orange spots on its back? It was spotted yesterday and was about 15mm in length. |

I don't suppose it looked anything like this did it?

Failing that, you might come across it if you have a look through the Gallery under the Caterpillars etc section.

| | | Re: caterpillar identification please Hi Jonners, no that was not it. I've looked through the Gallery and the closest to it I can see is the Pale Tussock Moth - Calliteara Pudubunda - but I'm not 100% convinced. Mine was a brighter yellow, the orange spots were more pronounced and there were no black bands between body segments. I'll keep looking, I guess. Thanks anyway. |

| | | Re: caterpillar identification please Can you describe it? Hairy? Are the spots tufts or just spots?
Is the Pale Tussock close but just the wrong colour? |
