| | | Re: Need help ID-ing 2 caterpillars Have you got any other shots of the first? I think it may be a sawfly.
I've the second - it has a very characteristic black mark, but I've yet to identify it! I'll post here if I do...! |

| | | Re: Need help ID-ing 2 caterpillars nope sorry, thats the only shot i've got of the first one. Do all sawfly larvea make an 's' shape when threatened, because this one didnt - it just curled up (see photo )
second pic, i looked through all the 'looper' caterpillar pics i could find and couldnt come up with an answer
if anyone finds out, please let me know!!! |

| | | Re: Need help ID-ing 2 caterpillars Yes sawflies do tend to curl up like that.
I meant to say "I've seen the second", in case you were wondering at my bad grammar! |

| | | Re: Need help ID-ing 2 caterpillars I typed geometrid caterpillars in google, and it does look like them, but does anyone know exactly which one it is? It has a very distinct balck mark on its back so it shouldn't be too hard to identify....
Top pic could be a sawfly larvae, but I found this site: Sawfly Larvae Photo Gallery by Tom Murray at pbase.com
and it doesn't seem to be there, unless the site doesn't include all species...
but thanks to everyone that has tried to help me so far! It is much appreciated!! |
