| | | Identification of eggs on grass stem Hi
I found these eggs on a tall grass stem in a meadow in the Chilterns today (early August). I thought they may be butterfly eggs, but from my brief research they seem to be laid in smaller numbers. The ones I found numbered at least a hundred, completely surrounding the stem near the top. I found another group at the top of another stem, covering some of the grass head. They're very small, only half a millimetre across, and silvery coloured. You can get a sense of scale from my (dirty) fingers.
Any ideas what they are? I'm very interested to find out...
Ta
Robin
p.s. apologies for posting the photo to the library twice - I'm new to this forum and got a little confused! |

I'll investigate further, cheers. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
