Bright Yellow Caterpillar

A few days ago I saw a caterpillar which I have been unable to identify - unfortunately I did not have my camera with me, so I shall have to rely on a basic description: It was quite small, no more than 20-25mm long, with a very furry body which was a vivid lemon yellow(almost dayglo!) with traces of a bright orange line along part of its back. Its head was a gloss black. It was crossing a large expanse of paving, so no real clue as to habitat, although it was quite happy to climb onto a sycamore leaf when i tried to move it. The only other vegetation in the immediate neighbourhood was a couple of horse chestnuts. Any ideas?

Sounds like it could be Acronicta aceris a species that will feed on horse chestnut.
