| | | help! I planted a kilmarnock willow in my front garden last year and the sawflys have got out of control, i now have a skeleton of a tree and this happened in a matter of days. I did pick leaves infected with young larvae and eggs and 'dispose' them but there were way to many. As it was planted as a food source for raising catterpillers and to attract other bugs i dont mind them being there just not so many of them. how can i control there numbers, without killing off everything, as next year i think it will be worse if thats possible!

Funnily enough, I was looking at mine the other day, wishing it could be covered in more larvae etc; loads of insectivorous birds are in the garden looking for food right now. Rather than seeing plants as ornaments in a well manicured garden, I now view them for what I think they should be, i.e. the first level of a food chain
