| | | Black pupa in webbing. This one I found under a Camellia leaf, 25th May. Checked since and found the web only. I think it was around 7-8mm long. Hope this is not too difficult but might be interesting! It was also near an Oak tree.

| | | Re: Black pupa in webbing. I can only find one reference to a British species feeding on Camellia ( Homona menciana - The Camellia Tortrix ), sadly no photos or further information - it's not on ukmoths so I'm assuming it must be quite rare!
Could be any of the polyphages really - identifying from pupa, especially micro moths is, as you say, interesting! |

| | | Re: Black pupa in webbing. I checked my pics taken this year, have one tortrix from 19th February which I haven't got around to trying to ID yet. It has white eye shaped marks on the wings with a darker patch on the outer edges. |

| | | Re: Black pupa in webbing. The Carnation Tortrix Cacoecimorpha pronubana looks like the black pupa, it feeds on a variety of plants and flies may to June which fits too!
Any clues to the moth I posted? |

Closest I can get it to is subfamily Tortricinae - maybe Clepsis consimilana but I wouldn't bet on it! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
