I found this in some privet leaves as I was cutting the hedges.
I'm pretty sure it's some kind of hawkmoth caterpillar - but which?
It isn't a privet Hawk Moth cater and we can't find it in any of our books or on the web.
It's approx 5cm long and seems happy munching privet leaves- though there were laburnum/elderberry nearby.

i think its a elephant hawkmoth caterpillar. They can be green or brown. |

I was convinced it was a hawkmoth (DOH) because of what I thought was a caucal horn.
It's a bit of a little caucal horn though so perhaps it doesn't count
