| | | Caring for unidentified chrysalis I found this chrysalis on our green (garden waste) wheelie bin today. It will get crushed when the bins are next collected so I need to remove it and locate it somewhere where it will be able to emerge safely. All help, suggestions welcome.

| | | Re: Caring for unidentified chrysalis That may be a Pieris brassicae, either way the main thing is to keep in the
shade, and they need room enough to inflate their wings without obstruction,
the first instinct of many on emergence is to climb upwards, obviously on a
Stick/stem ect this would help ensure clear space for wing inflation, a shoe
box lined with old piece of net curtain or something similar would be fine.
with emperor moth females if i notice them emerging, then i let them walk
onto my finger and transfer to the back of a cloth covered chair, they get
into a vertical position and then over the next hour a remarkable transformation
to watch, considering the excellent photo's you put on this site i look
forward to those of your find.
