| | | Unidentified larva In my home I have recently seen a quantity of larvae which I am unable to identify. They are approximately 4 mm long and appear on light coloured walls and ceilings. I have taken the attached photo. Can anyone please identify what this is? |

| | | Re: Unidentified larva i'm not sure... it could maybe be some kind of myriapod, not a larvae

| | | Re: Unidentified larva I saw something similar when I was searching I think for centipedes not long ago, but I can't find it now.

| | | Re: Unidentified larva Thanks for the clue posch, I have now found the one I saw before on bioimages, Polyxenus lagurus. The top image with three in the pic looks like this one.

| | | Re: Unidentified larva Thanks for your various inputs. I'm new to this but am beginning to learn! I think the opinion that it is a myriapod sounds reasonable. I have also looked at images of the Polyxenus lagurus and it seems quite similar, BUT my specimen has a different type of "tail" assuming the top of the picture is the tail-end and I cannot find the "antennae" in my picture in the images of Polyxenus lagurus. Any further ideas?
Poschiavanus thought it odd to find this indoors - it was seen very close to a door that leads out to extensive gardens and woodland - would that make any sense? |

| | | Re: Unidentified larva Your image looks just fine for Polyxenus lagurus. Jürgen Peters of Insektenfotos.de finds them on the (outdoor) walls of his house all the time, so it's not too surprising you would find one inside incidentally.
If you want many, many images for comparison go to this search page and enter "Polyxenus" or "Pinselfüßer" ... image galore
