| | | Caterpillar Help ID plz Never thought I'd find a caterpillar during the winter and this is my second find. Found the caterpillar at my sports club and right now he's munching on a lettuce leaf [hope this is ok for him, he must be hungry because he's eating away like there's no tomorrow!!
He's about 1.25 - 1.5 inches brown in colour and has black half circles along his sides, the half circles some have a light colour underneath.
[If I can upload a picture I will post] |

You can see what looks like half circles along his sides and his underside is an orange/brown colour. |

| | | Re: Caterpillar Help ID plz No, our lettuce muncher is not dead - When I found him this morning he was motionless for just about an hour and I feared the lettuce was too much for him!
The all of a sudden he was alive again..I need to find the correct food for him. |

| | | Re: Caterpillar Help ID plz Its the larvae of the large yellow underwing Noctua pronuba, most moths overwinter as a caterpillar rather than an adult. They eat almost any herbaceous plant, its fine eating lettuce. They are low maintenance . |
