| | | Unidentified Hairy caterpillar Can anyone help with ID on this caterpillar?
It was found browsing on the climbers (Virginia Creeper and Grape Vine) in our garden last weekend. I thought it might be a Garden Tiger but it doesn't have a black head or look very brown/black (yet?). It looked pale creamy/green with pale hairs and longer brown "guard" hairs.
It moved very fast when we put it on the bird table (only to take it's picture - we put it back in the greenery later!) but then it would wouldn't it? SH101019 - Wild About Britain Pics SH101019 - Wild About Britain Pics

| | | Re: Unidentified Hairy caterpillar Thanks for ID help - I must keep an eye out for the adult moths because they look so beautiful in the spotters guides.
Any tips on the best way of attracting adult moths for photographing/identification? |

| | | Re: Unidentified Hairy caterpillar The best way by far is to use a moth trap, you can buy them or make them. Also planting up plenty of flowering shrubs such as buddlia are good for attracting them.
