| | | unidentified black hairy caterpillar in my grass Hello, I have uploaded some images of this caterpillar to the "unidentified larvae and caterpillar" section of the Gallery. Here is one of the photos:
I know that it is a common caterpillar, and that it is nothing exotic. but I would still like to know what it is exactly.
Many thanks in advance |

Ruby Tiger wouldn't be so large at this time of year and they overwinter as a larvae.

Harry | True , didn't think of that at the time, also didn't notice the other photos and it does seem a bit dark for Ruby anyway.
I'd had a few pints when I first looked , well that's my excuse anyway

| | | Re: unidentified black hairy caterpillar in my grass Hello, thanks, I think its a white ermine all right, there were white moths in the house and garden around the time I took the photo about a week ago. I have not seen any dark moths at all. I googled "white ermine" and got a photo fit of the moths and caterpillars that have been skulking around my place. UKMoths - White Ermine Spilosoma lubricipeda
Thanks again. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
