Has anyone seen any cinnabar caterpillars this year? Here in Calderdale West Yorkshire we have been looking in vain. |

There were quite a few at Crossness in Bexley (NW Kent) last weekend, although I haven't seen the adult moths there yet. I got a couple of nice photos which I haven't found the time to upload yet - maybe tonight.

I've seen loads this year- usually on the heathland in the surrounding area. As per usual, they're taking over the Ragwort. The weird thing is, I've seen loads of Cinnabar Moth caterpillars, perhaps over the last couple of months, but I've not seen so much as one Cinnabar Moth. Also, when I do see moths nearby that I think could be Cinnabars, I chase them to discover that they're always Burnets. How odd  |

I saw large numbers of them in Cumbria at the end of July beginning of August - most noticiably at The South Walney Nature Reserve, larvae, pupae and moths. Saying that though, not so many as the same time last year. |

There were plenty in Lincolnshire a couple of weeks ago feeding on the Ragwort. Here's one I took earlier this month.
