| | | Syrphid Larvae? Hello there,
I wonder if anyone can help me out on identifying some larvae i have come across whilst cleaning out my pond. It's a stagnant pond so the majority of life in there are small 'midge' grubs, the ones with the little snorkels.
The ones the I'm not sure about are a couple of centimetres (just) long, appear to be white but on closer inspection are translucent with exposed white internal bits, thinking about it they could be pupae that i've disturbed from the mud and pebbles at the bottom...anyway they have a long 'tail' on them about twice the length of their bodies.
Hope you all have an idea what they are, I'll try and sort a photo out later today too.
Thanks in anticipation
