Id please for this caterpillar thing?

I was wondering what the following was?
I moved like a caterpillar in a sence but would stretch out its body as it moved.
I tried to let it crawl up a stick but then decided to throw a fit a few times and then play dead?
Then it was off again!?
Is it a kind of dry land based leech?

Not a leech! It's a caterpillar of a moth in the family Geometridae - "Geometridae" translates as "earth-measurer" from the way in which they move by looping along. I believe they're called inch-worms in America.

I'm not good with caterpillars but someone might know the species.
