larva ID help

can you help with the ID of this larva. It was on nettle at slapton
ley south Devon.

Is it really, I have never seen any of these! We have had hundreds and hundreds this summer on the willow. I saw the stages from the femail actually laying the eggs and the male protecting her wihile she did it. The eggs hatching into tiny hatchlings and the rapid growth of the larvae stripping the plant of leaves before dropping to the ground never to be seen again by me. Really interesting, I will have to remember to look out for this next year
