Lacewing larva. They cover themselves in frass and detritus as camouflage, big jaws for eating aphids etc.

Seconded. Found one a couple of months back and it baffled me no end until I spotted the huge jaws. Impressive wee beasties. |

Yes lacewing larva unsure on exact species as its hard to see ID features, they often cover themselves in the skin of their victims  |

thanks everyone. had a feeling I knew this one and spent hours
googling beetle larva  obviously I didn't. what a neat
trick ( or untidy trick, not sure ).
