| | | Eggs id?
The plant is the very rare Limestone Woundwort. Anyone like to try to id the eggs? There were woundwort shield bugs (Eysarcoris fabricii) on the plant, and also some other bugs.
The picture is a crop from a whole plant shot, at full camera resolution.
Thanks

| | | Re: Eggs id? well they are the same shape as shieldbug eggs and they look to be about the same size... but to be 100% I'd want to see them hatch. I think its got to be very late for them to be egg laying, then again, its certainly got warm again.
Sorry I cant be of more held, Ashe |

| | | Re: Eggs id? I agree they are definately Heteroptera eggs of some sort, they look the same as Eysacoris fabricii eggs, This would mean a 2nd or even 3rd generation likely 2nd with this species, September is the time the first generation of woundwort shield bugs become adults. The species also feeds and breeds on white dead nettle early in the year before the woundwort has developed. Id say 99% sure that its Eysacoris fabricii . |
