| | eggs on trampoline netting What insect is likely to lay eggs on a trampoline safety net? They are yellow and tiny so definatley an insect of some sort. They're all together in a circlular cluster stuck to the safety net on our trampoline. |

| | | Re: eggs on trampoline netting Presumably they were laid while the trampoline was out of use - yellow suggests a beetle or a butterfly. If they're spherical probably the beetle (leaf beetles, ladybirds, who can say?), if they're slightly rugby-ball shaped and/or sculpted then any old moth/butterfly .... sorry.
The best way to find out is to see what emerges - you should see something coming out in a week or so ... Quote:

| | | Re: eggs on trampoline netting I too have loads of eggs all over the trampoline netting and ther trampoline is in use.
Varying colours of white and yellow, my 1st thought where spiders as we have lots of those at the moment.
1st eggs appeared about 10 days ago and dont appeared to have hatched as yet, i will keep watching.
PS We have around 16 different sets of about 50-250 eggs dotted about the net |

| | | Re: eggs on trampoline netting After reading a bit further i am almost certain these are Spider's eggs although i realise that most spiders cover their eggs in a webbed ball, there is no webbing round these eggs at all.
As i said before i will post agiain if any hatch. |

| | | Re: eggs on trampoline netting Hi, the first lots of mine have hatched but I didn't get to see what they where and now we have more! Our trampoline is in use too but the eggs are quite high up on the netting of the safety enclosure so they don't get touched. The eggs are tiny, smooth and round, start off bright yellow but then go darker. |

| | | Re: eggs on trampoline netting Yes i have noticed the colour change too. I am pretty sure they are spider eggs tho, the only thing is the lack of webbing around the eggs which i thought spiders used.
I have also noticed two spiders in close proximity on the netting, they look different in that one is larger and huddled while the other is slightly smaller but ready to run (or fight) like hes defending the other spider.
I dont know much about spiders, but it looks like he's defending the female????? |

| | Re: eggs on trampoline netting My son saw a spider on the trampoline today that he said "looked angry with him" so he had to come off even though the spider was tiny! I know very little about spiders eggs but I also assumed they allways had some kind of web around them? |

| | | Re: eggs on trampoline netting It is probably my warped sense of humour but when I saw the title of this thread I envisaged eggs being bounced up and down on a trampoline. The trick would be to see how how high they would go before breaking. The eggs would probably have to be weighted otherwise they would not bounce very much. The action would have to be captured on video and shown in slo-mo. Perhaps this could be incorporated with the still techniques explained on 'Close up shots' in the Photography forum.
PS Perhaps we could have a WAB championship hosted by members with suitable trampolines - perhaps not! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
