| | | insect identification + eggs I would be grateful for help in identifying the following. All were seen near the North Wales coast.
Many thanks
Kerry
I have only seen this one on bugle flowers:
These tend to be on hogweed:
Is this one the Hawthorn Shield bug?
I found these eggs on pink campion and thought they were some type of butterfly egg. The nearest I could find was the orange tip butterfly but it says that they lay singularly: |

| | | Re: insect identification + eggs The purple one is a Sloe Bug (dolycoris baccarum); the green one is a Hawthorn Shield bug as you said and the wierd shaped thing is coriomeris denticulatus. As for the eggs ? Not a clue |

Sloe bug, Dolycoris baccarum
Dock bug, Coreus marginatus
Hawthorn shield bug, Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale
insect eggs, could be a ladybird |

Many thanks everyone for your input. Having checked the images on the net from the names that you have given, I would say that misanthrope is right. We are having a really good year for Ladybirds and they are everywhere; the eggs were always near to blackfly which is also having a very good year.

Thanks Steve. I use a sigma 105mm on a canon 400D. It took me a while to get into using the 105 and at first I wished that I hadn't spent my money on it, but now I am really getting some good shots. I really need a ring flash as at the moment I am just using my on camera flash and the results at times aren't very good. More money to spend! It is never ending once you get into photography. |

| | | Re: insect identification + eggs LOL, oh yes the bottomless money pit. I bought the Canon 100-400mm IS L series lense last month - took 9 months to save for it. Love it to bits. Thanks for the info on the lense, am looking at either the sigma 105 or the sigma 150mm.
Ring flash - that's a good idea too - oh dear |

| | | Re: insect identification + eggs I'm saving for the 100-400mm but the way things are going I think that it will take a bit longer than nine months. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
