| | | Re: the moon Don`t know about Tsunamis but it definitely will cause really high tides and I actually live on the seashore. I will be away in Middle Earth next week so will miss the spectacle of the huge moon with no light pollution and miss the high tides that may or may not inundate out house.
I would prefer to be here for both.
Dave.
PS watch out for huge Werewolves there are not any on the WAB Gallery so far. |

| | | Re: the moon I would think that a big tide could cause changes in the water 'overburden' on earthquake zones, triggering an immanent earthquake.

| | | Re: the moon There is no cause/effect relation between astronomical events and tectonic events on Earth. The mass/energy levels involved in tidal changes are utterly trivial compared with the levels involved in tectonic events.
Before anyone starts crowing about the 'quake in Japan, it was predicted after the Boxing Day Tsunami that a major event in the next few years was highly probable. Over-simplifying, the Pacific plate is colliding with the Asian plate, and the subduction zone is the deepest part of the oceans. Google Marianas Trench.

| | | Re: the moon They still expect another big one in Turkey ...SOMETIME...IN THE NEAR future...That will not be the Moon's doing either......Just the Earth doing it's thing in moving masses about.

| | | Re: the moon Gently moving towards the close moon, very high tides and birds, anyone care to comment on the impact on bird life?
A quick GOOGLE indicates there can be some impact in some areas.
And I see the high tides on Sheppey on 21 - 23 March look to be very high. Not sure what a "normal" benchmark is there, if one exits for such a moveable feast. But High tide today at 16.51 was 4.98m and is due to reach 6.22m on 22nd March. With a corresponding lower than normal low tide.
Presumably makes it easier to walk past the small private estate near Shell Ness where the notice says that the land above High Tide mark is private.
Anyway, if the weather is good I may well go out to the beach there to see what the waders get up to. Probably all fly off leaving me with an empty view in my camera viewfinder! LOL!
And wet boots!
