Edge is the work of photographic artists Valerie Dalling and Kimberley Cox, both former graduates from the University of Derby.
This two-year visual arts project is aimed at raising awareness of how changes to our British coastline appears to be accelerating as a result of global warming, and the devastating consequences this is having particularly on coastal communities.
If you would like to become part of this project and you are planning a holiday or visit to the coast, Edge would like your help. When standing on the beach, please turn your back on the sea and take a photograph of the immediate coastline. Please forward one 12in x 8in good quality print of the result, where and when it was taken and your contact details (name, email and telephone number required) to the following address
Edge Project, Studio 4.11, Banks’ Mill Studios, 71 Bridge Street, Derby DE1 3LB
Alternatively please email your image as a low res jpeg to
edgeproject@live.com
In addition if you live by the coast and are directly affected by coastal erosion Edge would like to hear your stories.
Edge would also be interested in any old photographs of the British coastline which could be useful to this project. Please be aware photographs cannot be returned.
While you will retain overall copyright of your photograph, by sending jpeg images Edge acknowledges your consent to select and use them, in respect of regularly updating our blog at
www.edgeprojectuk.wordpress.com. Your news and views are important.
It is further intended that this project will subsequently become part of a proposed exhibition and publication. If your photograph is selected for this purpose Edge will contact you prior to further use, whereupon you will be asked to provide a print of the image if you haven’t already done so, and for which you and your work will be acknowledged accordingly.
There is no closing date for submissions at this stage but please keep referring to this site for progress.
Thank you for your help!
Kim and Valerie
