Climate Change Politics

Just caught a bit of Tony Blair's address, where he points out that the UK needs a modern party to address climate change. Not being cynical, but what policies is he referring to?

Do any of the parties out there have a definitive way of addressing climate change. Are any of them willing to upset most of the population by taxing private cars until they become the exception for transport, rather than the norm?

Strictly speaking it's not aimed at one particular party, but all who wish to lead, Jonny. 1 man can only do so much, 1 leader can achieve so much more.

Of course this is a certain vote loser, its always other peoples car journeys that are uneccessary

And that's why carbon emissions ain't gonna drop. Even my company, stating how wonderful homeworking is, and why don't all companies use their knowledge to get everyone working from home, won't let the majority of its staff work from home.

My most recent job was working for the local council, what depressed me was that the offices were full of notices emphasising "green" policies and aims yet they insisted that I used a car and would not let use a push bike.

Of course for that to happen they would also have to invest heavily in public transport, mr beeching has a lot to answer for...
