| | | Re: Artificial Tree or Disguised Phone Mast It's an excellent idea for camouflaging telegraph poles until some idiot climbs it, gets electrocuted and Health & Safety get involved and probably paints it with yellow and black chevrons.

| | | Re: Artificial Tree or Disguised Phone Mast I would imagine it was camouflaged because a lot of people complain about ugly pylons, telegraph poles and phone masts being erected in and around beauty spots

| | | Re: Artificial Tree or Disguised Phone Mast I remember reading something about the fact that birds roosting, perching on 'phone mast transmitters means lots of guano (bird shatt) which 'messes' up maintenance work. And they were thinking of putting perches on them. Now I don't know if this article was a spoof or not, but it does look as tho' someone else read it and took it to heart. Silly devils. |

I suppose if we have to have the necessary evil of telecoms masts, then at least disguising them goes some way towards lessening their impact.
| Yes, if they are disguised as trees then far fewer people suffer from negative health effects!
Not sure it's good to encourage birds to nest right under the antennas though - they'll get pretty warm..... |

I think Rob is suggesting that people make an association that isn't actually the case - so if they don't see the mast they won't think incidences of cancer are associated with the mast, they'll think they're associated with normal things like life.......

There have been over 30 scientific reviews in recent years and none have found evidence that mast emissions [sic] have harmful health effects.
| I don't want to get into a debate about health issues on WAB - Keenteen - I really suggest you read the document in the link. If you are really interested, PM me and I can point you to some more information.
Anyway, stopping the masts being an eyesore has to be a good thing. Personally I think the artificial trees look much better than metallic masts, even if they don't quite look natural. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
