Roy. | Also one of Sir Peter Scott's pet subjects over twenty years ago...then as now a subject looked on as a vote loser by politicians, so carefully ignored.
The more dense the human population...the higher the death rate from starvation when Mother Nature exercises her right to inflict us with an eruption, earthquake,or drought.
Better to live in a world with an excess of water and food than live on the edge. |

| | | Re: The Big Question: Is there a technological solution to the problem of global warm i'm not sure that hi tech solutions to climate change are a good thing, after all is said and done it's tech that has got us into this situation in the first place (if you believe in anthropogenic climate change). you often find that man made solutions to environmental problems have unforeseen consequences and often make things worse. i think major environmental engineering should be a 'last chance saloon'.
along with others here i believe that over population is the greatest threat to the biosphere. the climate alters on it's own accord (ice ages etc) and the ability of eco-systems to adapt relies on having the space in which to do so.
what with man exploiting and often degrading much of the globe ,the said eco-systems ,that we all rely on , cannot adapt. in a nutshell, the smaller the human global footprint the better for all flora and fauna.
we need to reduce population ( preferably while we can choose to rather than have to be compelled to ) along with persuing sustainable lifestyles.
i think we also need to pay more attention to the far future too. in the distant future the earth will no longer be able to sustain life be it from natural disaster or the eventuality of the sun becoming a red giant etc and if we are to continue this fantastic story of sentient life we need to prepare.
here is a good site Earth and Space Foundation Home Page |

Is there a technological solution to the problem of global warm? It's worthy for us to think about.
In my opinion,it's difficult to find a way to solution this problem,it's not one person or one country's duty,it needs people around the world to work togethe!
