Yes a google search releases an ammount of CO2 but this ammount is tiny compared with thousands of other things people do everyday such as driving a car, using a washing machine, cooking food in an oven , getting a beer out of the fridge etc etc.
while i'm all for raising awareness i'm not sure worrying about things like google searches helps. We really need to focus our energy where it will make the most impact , such as walking to the shops rather than driving a car, insulating your house properly, not buying stuff you dont need, sourcing food locally etc etc. In this picture reducing the number of google searches you make is very small beer indeed.

Annmaria | I don't know if you've noticed but Google and WAB aren't the same thing |

| | | Re: Google Your Carbon Footprint ...I'd have thought along similar lines Stu/Robin. Google has worldwide data centres and so an average search would require getting information from more than one country's centre, am I right? I've already used Google twice today... and to think I could've had up to 12 teas instead
It's something I'd never thought of before... but a simple search on WAB, IE New Posts would've been incomparable IMO. |
