The planet's oceans have a calculated area of 360,000,000 square kilometres, if my maths are correct, fingers crossed, I make it just a little bit less than that!

D. | Certainly make a change from frogs, thats been reported often enough, but hardly life threatening unless you get hit on the head

Roy. | It seems you are right Roy, according to 'world atlas' the figure should be 335,258,000 sq. km. but I wouldnt have known without looking it up but I suppose its near enough for a ballpark figure and as the area is increasing daily, we are told, he could be right before much longer.

Even the National Geographic reporter recently managed to confuse the Earth's polar inclination with its orbit.
There should be much more rigour in scientific reporting I feel.

Roy. | there propably should be more rigour in reporting generally - you only have to look at political, economic, environment, and even sport to see that the average journalist has only the shakiest grasp of what they are talking about.
I recently read a piece in the guardian buisness section where the journalist conflated bull and bear trading.
and dont event get me started on the general standard of english.
