I was doing a little tidying of my borders yesterday and was very surprised to see a group of four daffs at least one and a half inches tall. Same with a few hyacinths ... oh, and the yellow poppy I mentioned on another thread is blooming its little heart out. Smashing! |

Here on the Welsh coast the trees are only just beginning to change colour, our bedding plants are still in full bloom and the only birds I see are at the feeders or overhead. Members are reporting sightings of winter visitors, I still can't see anything for trees!
That's not abnormal here though, I have even seen Toads in mid February.

As well as honey bees, sacks full of nectar, a variety of bumble bees and large hover flies and various sizes of wasps. All feeding on ivy flowers. Third flowering on some of my plants too wood sorrel especially

Our local farmers recently completed their third cut of grass this year.
To clarify one point about CC though. There is obviously a group of amateur astronomers on this site who be able to bear me out.
If NOTHING else were to change our climate, whether from internal or external or causes, our seasons would still change, with Spring getting earlier then getting later due to the planet's precession... Precession (astronomy) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

| | | Re: We're doomed! Again Not all that far from you, Digit...... as the crow flies LoL. My borders were desperate for a tidy up, happy to say there's still plenty of colour. I was just so surprised to see spring had sprung in autumn.
The trees across the way are a brightly golden / tan / pink. A superb seasonal view. |

Round here spring is progressive in the four miles into town, you can check its progress with the Snowdrops and Daffodils.
Trouble with spring around here is that it can be very short if the weather is very mild and fortnight after the first spring flowers the summer ones are starting to bloom.

Roy. | Roy, you always impress me with your attention to detail. Not in the swatted up from a book type of way (although that can be impressive too!) but in the way you just notice stuff as you pass by. Therefore when you say; "I'll have to keep an eye on our Wood Sorrel as well, I hadn't paid it much attention."....well, sorry mate. I just find that hard to believe, the very fact that you know it's there shows you have paid attention! Have you ever considered writing a journal? Your ramblings about your ramblings are a joy to read...
'Just wanted to say so

What I need to do is find a literary agent, if I could just find the time!
How people can be bored when they retire is a total mystery to me.
My 'ramblings' are from a lifetime of never saying 'no' to a fresh experience, with the scars to show for it!
