| | | Mcdonalds go green .... Hi everyone, read this today and thought it was quite interesting. Obviously a long way to go but at least a good start I'd say. Imagine if Tesco and Asda etc followed suit
"McDonald's is to run its fleet of lorries on converted chip fat after the fast food giant announced its latest "green" initiative.
The company pledged to recycle cooking oil used in its restaurants to make environmentally-friendly biodiesel, with aims to use the fuel in all its 155 vehicles in the UK by next year." McDonald's lorries run on chip fat - Go Green - AOL Lifestyle

| | | Re: Mcdonalds go green .... That's interesting, especially as my children love going there. At least it would seem they're making an effort, pity other companies can't do the same. |

| | | Re: Mcdonalds go green .... Makes sense, given that they have trucks visiting their stores on a regular basis and they have copious quantities of waste cooking oil.
Well done McDonalds! |

| | | Re: Mcdonalds go green .... Interesting that Tesco and Asda were mentioned, in August last year 60% of Asda's distribution centres were running on 5% biodiesel, not much, but a start. Tesco have gone way beyond that, the whole of their 2000 vehicle fleet is running on 50% biodiesel. So some of the big boys are taking it seriously. |

The co-op had the lowest carbon footprint if i remember correctly or was it the worset lol was on a wile ago. maybe someone else watched it. |

| | | Re: Mcdonalds go green .... I saw that programme and my recollection was that the Co-op came out top .... which you would expect with their eco-policy.

| | | Re: Mcdonalds go green .... Bit of a token effort but a start. I think that most British companies are making serious efforts - Tescos sells a lot of organic stuff, for instance - when did you hear of anything naturally grown at McDonalds? One of the best things the latter could do is sell their goods in recyclable containers - they must be one of the biggest producers of litter in the country. Quote:
