Threats to biological recording course at University of Birmingham

There are very few academic courses teaching in-depth species recognition and biological recording despite the evr-increasing threats to species and habitats in the UK and globally. One of the best departments in UK is at Birmingham - however this is being threatened by cuts. Please sign the petition asking for reconsideration of the closure:

Yes it's a shame that they have decided to end this course (apparently because the course doesn't lead to research, which is something the university requires for funding - all biological species research relies on the researchers being able to correctly identify the species though, which is something that this course helps to teach).

i've heard about this from a number of sources now, and will definitely be signing the petition and helping with the campaign if I can - not least because I was considering signing up for the MSc).
