| | | Threats to biological recording course at University of Birmingham There are very few academic courses teaching in-depth species recognition and biological recording despite the evr-increasing threats to species and habitats in the UK and globally. One of the best departments in UK is at Birmingham - however this is being threatened by cuts. Please sign the petition asking for reconsideration of the closure: Petition Biological Recording at BHAM needs you

| | | Re: Threats to biological recording course at University of Birmingham Yes it's a shame that they have decided to end this course (apparently because the course doesn't lead to research, which is something the university requires for funding - all biological species research relies on the researchers being able to correctly identify the species though, which is something that this course helps to teach ).
i've heard about this from a number of sources now, and will definitely be signing the petition and helping with the campaign if I can - not least because I was considering signing up for the MSc).
