That's excellent news. This one bypasses London altogether so it has my vote - far better idea than that HS2 pouring countless people down here (that one's a joke  ).

I don't think this was a joke (although it was in the Daily Excess). "The HSR2 route will travel through 13 miles of the Chilterns AONB although all but 1.5 miles of this will be through a tunnel, a cutting or along the A413.". Furthermore 1,600 feet will be on a viaduct. Not really an enormous imposition.
Meanwhile, moves are afoot for HSR3 - Leaders express desire for High Speed Train to stop here - Business - The Star
