| | | No sale of public woodlands There's a petition at the bottom left corner of this page where you can appeal against the sale to private landholders of our publicly owned woods. Please sign it! 38 Degrees | people. power. change. |

Thinks of the wildlife living in those forests!
Also singed the petition to "stop mega-dairies". The cows in factory farms never see a blade of grass

| | | Re: No sale of public woodlands What about those who wish to invest in the mono culture sell off and thereafter sympathetically manage it for the benefit of all?
In the last tranche of sell-off, my two local forested areas were and are being stripped of their trees to revert to the valuable habitat that was present before the FC innapropriately planted raised lowland mire and limestone pavement.
What would have happened if they hadn't been sold (given away for a paltry sum) to the county wildlife trust? Nothing - look at those areas now, full of diversity.
I'm all for selling it off and ridding blanket plantings of non native species excluding light from ground flora, altering the chemistry of precipitation and despoiling the landscape with geometric boundaries.
State owned forests do not have the flexibility that privately owned ones do. |

| | | Re: No sale of public woodlands It has somewhat slipped under the radar under the cover of the Forestry sell off, but the Woodland Trust is also selling off (or at least selling 999 year leases on) a number of its woods - the lease does protect them against clearance and development, but there is the same (low in my opinion) potential for access restrictions

| | | Re: No sale of public woodlands Thanks, have signed. Have noted that the local times has printed an article on the campaign to protect forest and given the details on how to sign. There is a lot of concern here for Thetford forest. The paper has also urged people to write to their local MP. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
