I've signed the petition and will be writing to Essex County Council to make my objections regarding these disasterous proposals for a new road cutting through two of our reserves.
I am a volunteer with Essex Wildlife Trust at Abberton Reservoir and will be spreading the word regarding your petition. Lets hope that we win !!!! Mike. C. |

That really is great! Thank you. I know Abberton very well, and this too is another reserve that's going to be gone by 2014 do to expansion of the reservoir, although I have a feeling this will be a good thing at the same time as a bad thing as I belive they will be doing away with the surrounding ridge which will mean more waders will arrive. I have been visiting Abberton for around 12 years now and at one time would go once a week but due to time constraints and work I am more often found at Hanningfield these days.
Thanks again Mike!
Best wishes

Trying to get information from these guys is very hard but I'm hoping this is where they will trip up. I will be carrying these out along with ancient tree surveys to try and throw that spanner straight at them!
Thanks for the support!
Cheers

Its a shame Great Crested Newts cant be found on the site, that might frustrate plans also.

Just a thought.
Jules Hubby is signing when he's in!

| | | Re: Please help save these two Nature Reserves!!! Hi,
We do have lots of celebs in Essex but not too many around here although Michael Greco lives a few doors away from me. I have had someone who is famous in the fishing world sign it (He has a show on Sky Sports and talk show on Talksport radio). I got 9 people to sign up today on a pen and paper petition but I have to say its going quite slow. We only have 47 on the online petition.
I would like to say here that when the online petition asks for your e-mail address on the page I don't actually get a copy of it (nobody does), so I don't see your e-mail address in case anyone is worried. The link for those that have missed it is Please help to Save these Nature Reserves!!! Petition : [ powered by iPetitions.com ]
I have got a space in one of the magazine that I do bushcraft articles for. But this will not be out for some time, so probably too late to help sadly.
I will be contacting the Otter Trust too, as they may be able to lend a helping hand!
I know I have asked this a lot but if you guys could spread the word around that would be great as we will need a thousand or more signatures to even make an impact. We all need to write to the address on the link, but this will only apply for those who live in Essex.
Its hard work as some people just don’t care, I have had several today just look at the petition and still not sign it!!!
I won’t give up but it does feel like I’m fighting a losing battle.
Best wishes

| | | Re: Please help save these two Nature Reserves!!! Some good news. Had a page story in the newspaper today, sadly it had my mug in it though. We should have a front page on a different paper this week and we will be on the bbc news tomorrow. I also have the task of doing a talk on the events and the future and past managment of the reserves. 5000 extra leaflets were sent out so god knows how many could turn up, the hall (seat wise) is already more than full. The best news is however, that we have got in writing from the hospital that they 'see no need' for the road and this is the reason why it was to be built. So its looking much better than the other day!!!
Wish me luck for Friday
