I've already strayed further into politics than I'd like Ric, lets not get started on religion.
Regards, Audrey. | Yes I know we are Audrey - but this particular person and subject just lights my blue touch paper mainly for the very reason stated the precedent which weakens legislation and leaves wriggle room for the next unscrupulous *person* to come along - and thats not the word I really wanted to use - but I don't want a ban
Laughed my socks off at your reply to Ric

| | | Re: Tripping up Trump Just catching up with this thread. Agree this sets a worrying precedent, but aren't SSSIs vulnerable already? Do these designations really protect sites? I'm not so sure. Seen some not being managed well and allowed to degenerate so think the system to 'protect' them is weak anyway.

| | | Re: Tripping up Trump As a V. general observation, when companies say that they estimate ' X ' jobs will-be-created is their project is completed.....please don't forget that a very sizeable proportion of that number will be composed of:- Part-time, unskilled & low/minimum paying jobs.
And another point: - If those positions were never made available at all - would it be that that 'X' number of people would be signing-on-the-dole ------all of their ( potentially ) working life ? I really don't think so. |

| | | Re: Tripping up Trump Trump is apparently halting work on the golf course until such time as a decision is made regarding the proposed Aberdeen Bay wind farm:- Donald Trump halts golf course construction due to 'ugly' wind farm threat - Telegraph
My views on having too much reliance on wind energy will probably be well known on the forum, but this is one instance where I would welcome such a construction - if only to stick two fingers up to Trump and his egotistical attitude that his money allows him to ride roughshod over the rights of anyone and anything that gets in his way.
I hope that the windfarm is sanctioned, and that Trump's bluff is well and truly called.

Mike. |

Trump got permission for his development in the face of strong opposition, arguably (very much so) he should not have got that permission.
Promoting throwing money away to install inefficient wind turbines is not going to change that.

| In a time when jobs are hard to find lets hope the government puts money into funding more renewable energy projects......general comment.
It is just scary that folk with a bit of money behind them may influence the future of green tecnology (in the wrong way)
I would like the government to put money into green energy in general, I believe that wave power would proberly be far more reliable, but I do not know enough about the subject to say more
