This device from the USA, is a tunnel blasting device, which is supposed to be used for destroying the vacant tunnels of ground dwelling animals such as moles, rats and rabbits. They work by filling the tunnels with highly flamable gas, and then igniting it! However they are being widely mis-used by 'cowboy' pest controllers, wanting to make a few easy ££££'s!
No modern Proffesional pest controller would condone the use of such a contraption, and Im sure everyone will agree that when the time comes for animals like these to be controlled, traditional, humane methods are the only sensible way to do it.
These animals CAN be a serious pest at times and their numbers do often need reducing of that there is no doubt, but this should be done by profesionals, in a humane manner, with the upmost respect for the target animals.
..... being first burnt, then suffocated of oxygen in their burrows in NO way to die

There is a serious concern amonst Badger Groups about this device. Apparently there has been one prosecution to date but the feeling is that gathering evidence for prosecution is difficult due to the manner in which the device works.
If you can bear it, watch its use on YouTube and make your mind up.
Read the advert on Burrow Destruction Device
and note the NE and DEFRA inserts on the home page. Then think about the other species that might be refuging in holes and systems destined to be blown up. Water Voles, Polecats, Voles, Mice.....the list goes on.
I wholeheartedly recommend signing the petition as this method of control is abhorrent irrespective of the stated method of use.
