| | | Re: Not strictly wildlife but still important You certainly have my support. I imagine a lot of these "prizes" end up chucked in the nearest river, which can't be good for them, or the wildlife.

| | | Re: Not strictly wildlife but still important Thanks, both of you.At least in a river they would stand a chance,in a tiny bowl with no filtration and untreated water they will slowly suffer and die.
The RSPCA had a chance to get this banned when it revised the animal welfare bill but it got forgotten about. |

| | | Re: Not strictly wildlife but still important I believe that the practise of giving goldfish as fairground prizes was finally outlawed throughout Scotland back in 2005 with the intoduction of The Animal Health and Welfare Bill, although several local authorities had forbidden it much earlier. |

But!! I thought goldfish prizes at funfairs had been banned years ago??? Like way back in the late 80's or early 90's? I seem to remember talking about it at the time, and certainly I haven't seen any hanging up in bags at funfairs for many years....
