Npower

http://www.saveradleylakes.org.uk

Npower want to fill Radley Lakes with waste from their Didcot power station. This includes lead, mercury and arsenic.

The Lakes support Great Crested Newts, dragonflies, pyramidal orchids, Cetti's and reed warblers and barn owls.

Re: Npower

That mixes well with their partnership with Greenpeace for their Juice green electricity product.

Re: Npower

I'll be honest, no electricity company is truly green it seems. But to basically pay off the local conservation groups (BBC Wildlife Magazine) so they raise no objections....

Npower are no longer in partnership with Greenpeace. I wondered why, perhaps this is the reason!

I see what you mean. I found a reference to Npower and Greenpeace in the Npower site map but got a page not found error when I followed it.

Boy was that a quiet split... Maybe it is also related to Greenpeace's decentralisation stance which I guess is at total odds to RWEs strategy?

Although actually looking in more detail at npower renewables website they are still working together but not in such a public way. Odd.........

seems perfectly reasonable to me , after all think of the new and exciting species which might mutate, giant crested newts, firebreathing dragonflies, hexagonal orchids, 3 piece cettis , and power station owls. Another triumph for Npowers green and clean image

If that is the case, then Greenpeace isn't 'truly green' either.

But obviously, no company which is committed to earning a living is green beyond the point where it cuts into the profits, unless forced by law.

Or consumer opinion, which of course affects profits (e.g. McDonalds....), which is of course what you said but I thought I would labour the point. Sorry.

Re: Npower

Talking of which, Currys now sell consumer solar panels - providing up to 40% of domestic needs. Would hit the suppliers profits. Only catch? Average cost of £9500!
