| | | Lapwing slaughter Hi everyone
Sorry for the blanket message, but I have just seen a video on You tube that
shows the slaughter of hundreds of Lapwing in France.
If you want to see it go to http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=tJZ40T5Xdm0 or just
put lapwing slaughter into You Tube.
It is so disturbing that I would hope that you could ask as many people to
E-mail stavros.dimas@ec.europa.eu at the European Commission to ask him to
enforce existing legislation to stop it.
Alternatively, you could boycott any French products at this time of recession -
it certainly is crazy that this kind of behaviour with a threatened species
still goes on un-checked.
If you are in an RSPB group, please make your members aware of this problem &
ask them to write the E-mail.
Regards

| | | Re: Lapwing slaughter Could you give me a little background to these. Why do they want to do this?
I cannot watch the video I'm afraid, things like this make me sick - physically sick that is.

| | | Re: Lapwing slaughter Oh for goodness sake! What the hell's that matter with humans. This is just dreadful. I depair at what levels humans will sink to.
Lapwings are one of my favourite wading birds. They are wonderful and why people do this terrible thing to them or any creature is beyond me.
I will write.

So far it hasn't had much noticeable effect. They still think that EU directives apply to the rest of the union but never to France.

| | | Re: Lapwing slaughter OMG! I wouldn't have thought there would be much meat on a Lapwing
Jason, they are not so unusual down this way, in the wetland areas along the coast. We call them "Peewits". If you ever are looking for a day out Lapwing spotting, you know where to come!
