A very worth while campaign and I'm glad to sea the wildlife trusts are involved. I was a little dissappointed in BBOWT a few weeks ago. A local charity was holding a mass balloon release so I contacted BBOWT to see what they could do in stopping it. Thier answer was nothing as they had other wildlife issues to worry about. It was in the news at the time about the dreadful deaths that burst balloons can cause not only to marine life but to other animals as well. So the answer was a little surprising, to me any way. I contacted the charity direct and West Oxon district council, and although the release took place, at least I know that I brought the effects of the balloon remains to the people that organised and allowed the event to happen. As it happens the charity said they knew of the worries held by the wildlife organisers and they hoped this would be there last balloon release.
Any way lets hope this campaign works, and certainly Kate Humble's programme last night was another reminder of the effects of not only balloons but rubbish in general.
