| | | Re: Petition against Metaldehyde Slug Pellets I will certainly sign this petition. I have hated these for years and, like others, am suprised they are still on the market.
Alternatives (in addition to those already suggested):
Beer traps - bury a yoghurt pot so the rim is ground level and fill with beer. You can also buy slug hotels which have a similar purpose - at least they die happy!u
Grapefruit skins - place upside down on garden - the slugs/snail will collect underneath but then you have to dispose of them
Garlic boiled in water - then diluted and watered on to plants is supposed to work - saw this on a TV programme about the National Hosta Collection - can't remember where that is. I suppose the advantage of this is, if it works, is that it is a deterrent and doesn't actually kill the beasties!
Didn't find copper bands around pots worked at all - the slugs and snails simply crawled over it. |

| | | Re: Petition against Metaldehyde Slug Pellets Unfortunately Ladywell the petition closed a year ago but this was the government's response. [ARCHIVED CONTENT] Slugpellets - epetition response | Number10.gov.uk
On another point the number 10 petition site doesn't seem to accepting any new signatures for any petition as:
"The new administration is currently assessing how best to proceed with the e-petitions service. We will update users as soon as practicable."
Probably means they're thinking of scrapping it altogether. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
