Exclamation Please pay attention to polls

Hi all,

I have received an urgent email again from pauline kidner at the secret world wildlife rescue. You may recall late last year a poll was set up for Badger culling by western daily press.

Anyway a quote from this email;

(Quote)"You will recall that they ran a poll quite recently when the result showed
approx. 97% against culling. It might appear that this was not the answer that
WDP were looking for as they have instigated this further poll. The poll is
currently only showing 45% against culling and there is no logic for this. No
new significant announcements have been made and therefore it is difficult to
see why the result should be so different.

One reason could be that the question is very confusingly stated.

Title: Culling Badgers is not the solution
Question: Should Badgers be culled to deal with TB?

When you read the title, you might instinctively click 'Yes', but if you value
Badgers you actually need to select 'No'."
(end quote)

Anyway my point is that it is possible many of the good hearted people are not reading correctly the poll and in turn are not necessarily ticking the right box.
If i recall some of the poll titles i have signed to in the past, they can be misleading.

Cheers for now

Re: Please pay attention to polls

it might also be that there has been a concerted effort by those that are pro cull to get people to vote on these polls - whereas the proposed cull has dropped out of the vision of the public at large and thus anti votes are not high in the public conciousness.

its all a bit of a moot point , becaise the govt isnt going to take any notice of what the people think/want anyway

Re: Please pay attention to polls

Just thought i would add that the thread was not started just for Badger polls but for any. I recall another poll that went the wrong way to do with killing penguins in canada. We have alot of people voting and i just wanted to make sure at times that people are not just clicking "i agree" (thinking this to be right) and then closing the page without having actualy read the question.

Re: Please pay attention to polls

Polls have to be set up so they aren't subject to abuse as eeyore says. The better ones require email addresses to be checked etc. I think the one that Pauline Kidner was talking about was one of the abused ones! It was removed anyway, and people left their comments instead which is really a better way of expressing opinions.
