| | | Re: Campaigning for Free Range Chickens.Sorreeee Saw this way too late!!!
However I HAVE for last 9 months given up non-free-range chicken & eggs.
Also pretty much given up farmed salmon, farmed prawns, veal and any pork that is not outdoor reared or free range
I went to see Thich Nhat Hahn , the famous Buddhist teacher and whilst not prepared to go full veggie or vegan, thought that taking a pledge to give up animal food reared cruelly or excessively destructively (the farmed salmon & prawns) would be a start.
Thich Nhat Hahn wrote to the boss of Kentucky Fried Chicken about the disgusting methods they use to rear their birds....that used to be my fave junk food but I won't set foot in there now.
Good luck with your effort to spread the word!

but i am a vegetarian who doesnt wear leather or drink milk and i only use free range eggs anyhow.
anyone interested in giving up milk could do worse than trying rice milk.
it tastes better than cows milk , unlike soya which is an aquired taste (very aquired )
if you're interested in battery hen welfare try this site Battery Hen Welfare Trust

| | | Re: Campaigning for Free Range Chickens. This is a shame I missed signing this, I very much agree with it. There simply is no need for animals to be cooped up in poor living conditions, often in constant distress and conflict with its crowded neighbours for the sake of a few pence more in profit and convenience especially when other farmers often have a great deal of success by giving their animals the space and fresh air they need. |

I don't mind soya milk and my wife positively prefers it. Waitrose sell a soya milk which is organic with no added sweeteners. I mention this in case people were put off by your comment. It's just a matter of personal taste! |

....... | Of course, we shouldn't be eating any junk food or buying anything from the big 'international' chains. No point saving a few chickens if we're taking no heed of cows conditions! The sooner we start making our own food based on local, organically produced food the better.
However, even the best of us have to eat out now and again - I notice that Marks and Spencers' egg sandwiches are now free-range! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
