Diary Format Wildlife Shows What Do You Think???

Hey there pete here again, still doing my dissertation eeeekkkkk! Thanks to all of you who replied to my tread about natural history docs veery useful!

got a new one for you now though if your interested?

what do you think to diary format shows like meerkat manor etc?

are we getting to carried away with humanising animals or are they valid attempts at allowing us a closer look into the animals life?

let me know what your views are and i will be pleased for your help

I love meerkat manor I'd watch it over eastenders! I do think they over anthropomorphise (SP?) and I think they also make some of the 'stories up' I do wish they do this a bit less but if this is what it takes to keep viewing figures at a point where they keep showing it - I also like it because its done via remote stationary cameras - no people around to affect the behaviour - or to make them dangerously used to people.

I loved also the updates on the rutting stags in autumn watch and could have watched more of that it was also as good as any soap opera to me - though I know others tired of it.

I also like big cat diary - but worry a little about how intrusive the trucks are as they hare about after the big cats repeatedly tracking them - but they are working closely with experts who I can only hope would stop or slow coverage of indivuals if they thought it was having an impact.
