| | | help!!!! urgent!!! URGENT
As most of you know I am duty Co-ordinator for East Sussex Wildlife Rescue, due to our success as a wildlife ambulance service and our new rehabilitation unit we
have found ourselves with a severe funding shortfall, to the extent that we are having to cut down on some of our services and are very very close to the point where
we will have to turn away wildlife casualties. We are basically at the point of near collapse if you can help please send a cheque to WRAS,
Maz appeal
Ash Cottage,
73 Friday Street,
Eastbourne,
East Sussex,
BN23 8AY
please help keep me off the streets and send some cash so i can help our little freinds

Also perhaps you could give us some background as to who you are , maybe wras's registered charity number , and contacts basically to reassure us that this isnt a con - because frankly the "maz appeal" with a residential address could be posted by anyone

| | | Re: help!!!! urgent!!! And I wonder who it is that lives at Friday Street??? Certainly no-one called 'Maz' according to the phone book!
Nice try 'Maz'
And Eyeore - your spell checking's tip top, obviously due to lack of magners, so a nice crispy £20 on the the way to help the cause

| | | Re: help!!!! urgent!!! WRAS does exist but there website is sort of down and what is up makes no mention of that address or of the "Maz appeal" - an odd name for a wildlife rescue service appeal too
their website such as it is , is here http://www.geocities.com/wildlifeambulance/
when i get a mo tommorow i'm goingto bell them and see if theyare aware of this appeal or what
cos if it is genuine it could be a lot better staged so as not to arrouse all this suspicion andif it isnt then thay need to know that someone is taking their name in vain.
also their coordinators name seems to be trevor weeks , and although he lives in eastbourne that aint his address - stranger and stranger said the walrus

| | | Re: help!!!! urgent!!! East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) are fundraising at the moment - see the BBC report below. Such a shame if it seems someone is trying to cash in on a genuine fundraising effort. BBC NEWS | England | Sussex | Animal rescue charity's cash plea

| | | Re: help!!!! urgent!!! It could be genuine cos extensive googling has just thrown up that they do have a duty coordinator called Maz marriot - but if it is real its a shame that a) they have resorted to spam posts where an approach to WAB by mr weeks might have been far more effective , and b) that the post is so ineptly written as to arrouse al this suspicion in reasonable folk such as us
I've also dug up an email address for Trevor Weeks so I'll drop him a line just to make sure everything is on the up and up.

| | | Re: help!!!! urgent!!! Hello everyone, the easiest way to check out the work of East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service is to check with the Charities Commission, where we are listed under our initials East Sussex WRAS. I am the founder of the organisation and Maz is one of our duty co-ordinators - unfortunately Maz suffers from dyslexia but he is a very hard working volunteers and really cares about widlife.
Our new website is Untitled Document (still partially under construction) and we are well know in the East Sussex area. Our Registered Charity Number is 1108880. The address Maz gave is that of our Treasurer Peter Mortimer. Sussex Police also use us for road casualties.
This is my 22nd year undertaking wildlife rescue and conservation work - also used to work for BTCV when I was younger as the Local Groups Officer based at Hastings too.
We are listed on numerous animal rescue websites. We are members of the British Hedgehog Preservation Socity we work under instruction from the St Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Buckinghamshire for certain species like deer. We are on call for the Southdowns Badger Group and the Sussex Bat Hospital. We have undertaken work for the Badger Trust in the past.
If any one has any concerns over the validity of our organisation you are welcome to contact me direct on my private mobile 07813-103474 or if you are concerned about a rescue then please call our rescue line on 07815-078234.
East Sussex WRAS is a completely voluntary organisation and we are short of funds at the moment due to extremely high vets bills we have been receiving for the past 18 months. If anyone in the East Sussex area would like to help volunteer or donate money then please get in touch with us.
Many Thanks for your time. |
