Butterfly in house

A small tortoiseshell butterfly has appeared in my bedroom. I think it must have been lurking somewhere in the house for quite some time, maybe hibernated and now become active because the heating has been turned up during this recent very cold weather. Presumably I can't release it outside at the moment - should I attempt to feed it (maybe on diluted honey, or rotting fruit?). Advice, please?!

I think you are right about it coming out of hibernation because of the heating. I would suggest putting it outside in a shed or garage.

Thanks for the advice - I'll do as you suggest, assuming I can catch it safely.

I'd put it on a twig that was in a a NON-Airtight jar - in that Garage / Shed - making sure that there is also a little - bit of Sugary-Water or Honeyed-Water in a teaspoon at the bottom of that jar.

Let it out in - Middle of next Month?
